Lease
If you are interested in leasing then please read through this section carefully as it outlines the terms of leasing a horse or pony with Obsidian Moon Ranch. Still not sure if leasing is right for you? Read more about the pros and cons of leasing a horse here.
Care Lease
- Care Leases are a "free" lease with special terms and are offered on a limited number of horses.
- Most care leases are for young horses with little to no training that would make an excellent training or 4-H project for individuals looking to expand their skills without purchasing a horse.
- Lessee is responsible for all care and costs of the horse, and must maintain insurance on the horse for the duration of the lease. Should the horse become ill or injured it will be the responsibility of the lessee to pay for all required care until the horse has healed. In the event a lease horse dies during the lease, the lessee will be responsible for paying to Obsidian Moon Ranch the full sale price of the horse as is outlined in the contract.
- Most care lease horses are available for sale, and may be purchased by lessee at any time during the lease for the price set forth in the lease contract. Purchase of the horse ends the lease, and will be marked by a purchase contract of the horse.
- Care lease horses are evaluated to the best our of ability but Obsidian Moon Ranch is not responsible for what the horse does once off of the property.
- Upon the return of a care lease horse, Obsidian Moon Ranch will be allowed 7 days to fully evaluate the horse or pony to ensure that it has returned in the same or better condition than when it left. Should a problem or injury be found this will be brought to the attention of the lessee who will either be required to pay a fine, or to pay for the care of the horse to bring it back to the same condition as when it left.
Off-Site Lease
- Off-site leases are available on a limited number of horses, and each lease has its own special terms.
- Cost of off-site lease and basic terms are available on the individual horse’s page. Please contact Obsidian Moon Ranch for more detailed terms.
